A significant health scare has struck the Tufts University men's lacrosse team as a dozen players have been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, a dangerous medical condition that has led to five players being hospitalized. The incident occurred after a team workout supervised by a Tufts graduate with Navy SEAL training. The university is taking the situation seriously and investigating the circumstances surrounding the workout.

Expressing concern for the affected players and their families, director of media relations Patrick Collins issued a statement emphasizing their well-being as the top priority. The university has halted all team practice activities until every team member has been evaluated and medically cleared for participation. In addition, an external investigator has been hired to assess the events that led to the players' diagnosis.

Rhabdomyolysis, often referred to as "rhabdo," stems from the breakdown of muscle tissue, releasing harmful proteins into the bloodstream. This condition can have severe consequences such as kidney failure and even prove to be life-threatening. The extent of confirmed cases and hospitalizations may change as the university continues to monitor the team's health closely.
