In a series of roster moves, the Los Angeles Dodgers have placed right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto and right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list. The club has also made corresponding moves by recalling right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selecting the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers have transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.

Yamamoto's injury was confirmed to be a strained rotator cuff, indicating that he will be out of action for an indefinite period. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts mentioned that while the injury is not season-ending, Yamamoto will require substantial recovery time. Yamamoto's absence will not disrupt the rotation, as right-hander Bobby Miller is set to return from the injured list and regain his spot in the starting rotation.

Grove, on the other hand, is expected to have a relatively short-term injury. The right-hander displayed struggles in his recent performances, but earlier in the season, he showed promise with a dominant stretch of games. The Dodgers will hope that a stint on the injured list allows Grove to regain his form and provide a significant boost to their bullpen.

Feyereisen, who missed the entire 2023 season due to injury, has struggled in his return this year. However, the Dodgers have seen glimpses of his potential during his impressive outings in May. If he can rediscover his earlier success, Feyereisen will add depth to the middle relief corps, alongside Yohan Ramirez and Anthony Banda.

Petersen, a 30-year-old right-hander, is set to make his MLB debut with the Dodgers. After being drafted multiple times between 2012 and 2014, Petersen signed with the Brewers in 2015. He spent several years in the minor leagues before joining the Rockies in 2020. Petersen's strong performance in the Triple-A level earned him a minor league deal with the Dodgers in the offseason. He continued to excel this year, recording an impressive 1.61 ERA and an outstanding 36.9% strikeout rate. Now, he gets the opportunity to showcase his skills at the highest level.

In terms of Joe Kelly's move to the 60-day injured list, it appears to be a procedural move, as he has been sidelined with a shoulder strain since May and has not started a rehab assignment. He will be eligible for activation on July 5.

The Dodgers will be closely monitoring Yamamoto's injury, awaiting further testing results to determine the length of his absence. Meanwhile, they will turn to their reinforcements in Feyereisen and Petersen to bolster their pitching staff. As the calendar flips to July, the Dodgers hope to maintain their success despite these roster adjustments.
