**Disney+ Introduces Measures to Curb Password Sharing**

Disney+ has announced a new approach to tackle the widespread issue of password sharing, which they refer to as "paid sharing". In an effort to ensure that only legitimate users access their streaming content, Disney+ detailed these changes in a recent blog post titled "Paid Sharing on Disney+: Here's What You Need to Know." The new provisions have now been implemented in several regions, including the U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, after an initial rollout during the summer in select markets. This week, Disney+ expanded the program further.

Mirroring similar moves from streaming giant Netflix, Disney+ is focusing on restricting accounts accessed by individuals who do not reside in the primary account holder’s household. These users will need to either purchase their own subscription or be added as an “Extra Member” under the main account. The cost for adding an Extra Member has been set at $6.99 per month for the basic tier and $9.99 per month for the premium tier. However, each account is limited to one extra member slot. Additionally, the "Extra Member" option is not available to those subscribed to the Disney bundle or those billed through partners.

For those who decide to create their own separate subscription, Disney+ offers the convenience of transferring existing profiles, watch history, and settings. Account holders can continue enjoying Disney+ on supported devices. If they receive a message indicating that their TV is not recognized as part of the Household for their account while on the move, they have options. Users can either mark themselves as "I'M AWAY FROM HOME," or they can select "UPDATE HOUSEHOLD" if they have moved and need to reset their Household location. These actions will prompt a one-time passcode to be sent to the email address associated with the account.

For those seeking more information, Disney+ encourages subscribers to visit their Help Center for further details on the new measures and how they may affect their streaming experience.
