### Ravens' Receiver Room Gets Stronger with Diontae Johnson Addition
After the Baltimore Ravens finalized the trade for Diontae Johnson, Nelson Agholor wasted no time in welcoming their new wide receiver. Agholor promptly FaceTimed Johnson and later the two discussed Johnson’s accommodations for the night after his inaugural practice. Baltimore's wide receiver lineup—already bolstered by Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Agholor—sees Johnson as a significant supplementary asset.
NFL insider Josina Anderson has reported that Johnson will be staying with Agholor. Agholor confirmed the report with a smile, stating, "He will be housed. We spend a lot of time in each other's house organically already." The two players, both hailing from Tampa, Florida, share a deep-rooted history. Agholor, 31, and Johnson, 28, first met through youth sports in their teenage years, attending high schools across town from each other, and have maintained their bond, training together in the offseasons.
Johnson's career has seen him traverse from the Steelers, who drafted him in the third round in 2019, to a brief stint with the Carolina Panthers. Despite leading the Panthers in major receiving categories during his seven games, he was traded yet again. Set to become a free agent this offseason, Johnson seeks a sense of belonging and a return to a Florida-like comfort in Baltimore with familiar faces such as Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Flowers, and Agholor.
Agholor speaks highly of Johnson, emphasizing his qualities both on and off the field. "I want nothing but the best for him," Agholor remarked. "He's a great player, but he's also a quality person that I think will help us and be a part of our journey here."
Adjusting to a new team and learning a new playbook is no small feat. Johnson acknowledges the challenge, noting that the Ravens have him learning two wide receiver positions. However, he’s quick to cite the advantage of having Agholor guiding him through the transition. "It helps a lot," Johnson shared. "To have that brotherly love is great. He's someone I can go to whenever I need something."
While Johnson’s arrival might appear to challenge Agholor's share of the targets, Agholor remains focused on contributing in any capacity. Having played 48% of the offensive snaps so far this season, Agholor, along with Flowers, believes Johnson will enhance the team’s existing dynamics rather than detract from them. "He's really good with what we do - create separation," Agholor said. “To add another guy like that for how we added them, I'm grateful."
Flowers echoed similar sentiments, noting Johnson’s synergy with the team’s style. "He's a perfect fit. He moves just like us," Flowers said. "You can't have too many weapons."
Agholor is optimistic about the impact of quarterback Lamar Jackson on Johnson’s performance, who has previously played with Bryce Young, Andy Dalton, Kenny Pickett, and Mitch Trubisky. According to Agholor, a quarterback of Jackson’s caliber will bring out the best in Johnson not just as a player but also as a teammate.
For Johnson, the immediate focus remains on integrating into Baltimore’s offense and contributing where he can. The coming weeks will see him face familiar competition as the Ravens prepare for matchups against the Bengals and his former team, the Steelers. Yet, Johnson remains grounded in the present. "I'm looking forward to [the Steelers] game, but I'm focused on right now," he said. "Whatever game comes first before we get to that point - I'm going to do my job and just keep preparing."
