**Diamondbacks Fight for Wild Card Spot Amidst Crucial Games**

As the 2024 regular season draws to a close, three National League teams—the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets, and Atlanta Braves—find themselves in a tense battle for the final two Wild Card spots. Sunday's games are pivotal, with a range of scenarios that could determine each team's postseason fate.

The Arizona Diamondbacks (88-73) face off against the San Diego Padres in what could be their most critical game yet. Arizona needs a victory, coupled with losses from both the Mets and Braves, to secure their spot in the playoffs without further complications. If Arizona fails to clinch today and the Mets win, the Diamondbacks could be eliminated even before New York's showdown with Atlanta on Monday.

In an electrifying start to their game, Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Pfaadt allowed an RBI single by Elias Diaz, putting Arizona behind 1-0 in the second inning. However, a six-run explosion in the fourth inning shifted momentum massively in favor of Arizona, putting them ahead 6-1. Jake McCarthy's double in the fifth inning extended the lead to 7-1, followed by another run in the sixth that made it 8-2. Eugenio Suarez capped off the scoring with his 30th home run of the season in the seventh inning, bringing the score to 9-2.

Meanwhile, the New York Mets (87-72) took an early lead against the Milwaukee Brewers. Brandon Nimmo's RBI in the first inning set the tone, with subsequent RBI singles from Francisco Alvarez and Francisco Lindor, pushing their advantage to 3-0 by the fourth inning. Alvarez and Lindor added to the tally in the fifth and sixth innings respectively, giving the Mets a commanding 5-0 lead.

In Kansas City, the Braves (88-71) faced an early setback when Michael Massey of the Royals launched a three-run home run in the first inning. The Braves managed to claw one back with Gio Urshela’s solo home run in the third inning, but another home run by Hunter Renfroe stretched Kansas City's lead to 4-1. Atlanta responded with an RBI single from Ramon Laureano in the fourth inning, narrowing the gap to 4-2.

As these crucial games unfold, the fate of each team hinges on every pitch, hit, and catch. Baseball fans are glued to their seats, as the final outcomes could dramatically alter the post-season landscape.
