In a recent operation, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents apprehended three individuals on Wednesday afternoon at a residence located in the Bronx, New York City. The house has been embroiled in controversy, involving squatting, drugs, and guns, and is said to have housed a group of suspected migrant squatters.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were also present at the scene to provide support during the arrests, which were captured live on "America Reports". The targeted residence on Hull Street Avenue is situated across the street from a school, raising concerns about potential dangers to the local community.
Last week, six suspected migrant squatters were arrested at the same house on charges related to drugs and weapons possession. Shockingly, despite prosecutors' requests for high cash bails, a New York City judge released all six individuals on no-cash bail. One of the migrants, who had a previous arrest and charge for attempted murder, was subject to a request for a bail amount as high as $150,000 in cash.
At present, it is unclear if the three individuals apprehended by DHS agents are part of the same group that was arrested last week. Overall, eight migrants were detained in the previous incident, with charges including criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and acting in a manner injurious to a child. Notably, a 7-year-old child was discovered among the group.
The New York Police Department shared images of the seized evidence, which included four firearms, ammunition, and bags containing cocaine and ketamine. The initial police response was prompted by reports of a person with a gun at the multi-dwelling house.
During the altercation, Hector Desousa-Villalta and Javier Alborno, both from Venezuela, were apprehended. Desousa-Villalta was allegedly seen pointing a gun outside the premises, and Alborno attempted to flee with a handgun tucked under his arm. The authorities were able to quickly detain them, confiscating the weapons in the process. Desousa-Villalta was found with a 9 mm CZ pistol and Alborno had a 9 mm Springfield Armory pistol. Police also discovered additional firearms within the vicinity of the premises.
Interestingly, Desousa-Villalta, who had previously been involved in an attempted murder incident in August 2023, was released on no-cash bail and placed under supervised release by a Bronx judge. The Bronx District Attorney's Office had sought a much higher bail amount of $150,000 in cash or $450,000 bond. Alborno, on the other hand, is currently being held with a $100,000 cash bail, despite a call from prosecutors for it to be set at $150,000. Miquel Vaamondes-Barrios, aged 31, is also being held with a bail amount set at $25,000. Barrios has active warrants for retail theft and shoplifting in both New York and Pennsylvania.
The reasons behind Barrios and Alborno's detention, while the rest of the migrants were released on no-cash bail, remain unclear at this time. The remaining individuals granted no-cash bail include Yoessy Pino Castillo (20 years old), Yerbin Lozado-Munoz (25), Yojairo Martinez (42), Jefferson Orlando Abreau (39), and Johan Cardenas Silva (35). It is not known whether these migrants are still residing in the basement of the property. All eight individuals are reportedly accused of possessing drugs with the intent to sell them.
Video footage from the house displayed various items strewn across the backyard, including trash, a chair, a mattress, and an inflatable pool partially filled with water. Additionally, a moped and a wheelchair were observed on the premises' front porch.
The details surrounding this ongoing case continue to unfold, highlighting the complexities involved in addressing issues related to squatting, drugs, and firearms. Fox News' Bryan Llenas and Jennifer Johnson provided additional contributions to this report.
