**Snowstorm to Affect Denver Area by Tuesday, Disrupting Thanksgiving Travel Plans**
Denver residents should brace for potential travel disruptions as snow from the mountains spreads towards the metro area by Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a significant amount of snowfall is anticipated for Colorado's Rocky Mountains, with projections of 4 to 8 inches already accumulating on Sunday. The Interstate 70 mountain corridor is expected to receive an additional 3 to 6 inches.
NWS forecasters have issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Winter Weather Advisory for Jackson and Grand counties at elevations above 9,000 feet, effective until 6 a.m. Monday. They advise that ski traffic along the I-70 mountain corridor could face substantial delays on Sunday evening due to slick conditions caused by snow bands.
As for the Denver metro area and the Interstate 25 corridor, rain showers and light snow are expected to fall on Sunday night, though little to no snow accumulation is likely in these areas. However, the mountains will continue to experience "significant" snowfall through Thanksgiving morning, potentially causing widespread travel issues on all mountain routes.
While Monday will bring a brief respite from snow in the Denver area, NWS forecasters warn that winter weather will return by Tuesday night. Travelers should plan accordingly to avoid potential disruptions during the busy Thanksgiving holiday period.
