Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota announced on Friday that he is laying off a significant number of campaign staff members as he continues his 2024 presidential run. In a video posted on social media, Phillips explained the reason for the layoffs, stating that he struggled to raise sufficient funds to run his campaign the way he desired. Despite the staff cutbacks, Phillips emphasized that he is not dropping out of the race and is committed to continuing his presidential journey.

Phillips, who officially launched his presidential campaign on October 27, positioned himself as a younger alternative to President Biden, focusing on addressing issues such as the nation's debt, military spending, and high taxes. Although he faced defeat by President Biden in the New Hampshire and South Carolina Democratic primaries and was not on the ballot in Nevada, Phillips expressed gratitude for the positive experience he has had thus far during his campaign.

Fellow Democratic candidate Marianne Williamson recently suspended her campaign, but Phillips remains determined to press on, stating that he will honor his promise to his staff and supporters to continue the journey. Despite the challenges, Phillips urged those who believe in the need for change to support his campaign, emphasizing that he is on the ballot in 43 states and is resolute in his belief that the country is in desperate need of improvement.
