**Deborra-Lee Furness Speaks Out on Divorce from Hugh Jackman**
Deborra-Lee Furness has expressed her compassion for those who have experienced betrayal, following her recent divorce from Hugh Jackman. Reflecting on the separation, Furness, 69, shared her thoughts in a statement to the media, saying, "It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe... is always working FOR us."
The couple, who filed for divorce in New York on May 23, 2023, announced their separation in September of the same year, ending 27 years of marriage. Hugh Jackman, known for his iconic role as Wolverine in the X-Men series, has yet to publicly respond to Furness's recent comments.
Furness elaborated that the breakdown of her marriage has given her "much knowledge and wisdom." She stated, "Sometimes the universe has to create arduous circumstances for us to walk through in order to find our way home, back to our true essence and the sovereignty of self love." She believes that, although the process is painful, it ultimately leads to a return to self and an alignment with one's own integrity, values, and boundaries, bringing a sense of liberation and freedom.
The couple initially issued a joint statement when they announced their separation. They described the decision as a shift in their journey, aiming to pursue individual growth with gratitude, love, and kindness.
Furness and Jackman married and later adopted two children together. While Furness shared her insights in her statement to the Daily Mail, Jackman, who is currently performing in New York, posted an Instagram video of himself skipping to the NSYNC song "Bye Bye Bye," seemingly reflecting his current state of mind.
