**Lions Coach Dan Campbell Remains Unfazed Despite Mounting Defensive Injuries**

The Detroit Lions' defense is facing significant challenges due to a slew of injuries, which have drastically affected the depth chart. Injuries to key players have forced the Lions to rely on recently acquired talent to fill essential roles. Despite this, head coach Dan Campbell maintains a resilient attitude, undeterred by the setbacks.

After the Lions' victory over the Chicago Bears on Thursday, where defensive starters Josh Paschal, Levi Onwuzurike, and Malcolm Rodriguez were injured and did not return, Campbell was questioned about feeling unlucky amid the growing list of injuries. Campbell's response was straightforward and dismissive of any need for sympathy.

"Let me ask you this, does it really matter? Like who cares?" Campbell remarked. "It doesn't matter. Either it is or it isn't, and we get a guy back, or we don't get a guy back. Worrying about it and complaining — it's like penalty calls. It's done, it's over."

Campbell’s stance showcases the team's mentality of thriving under adversity rather than lamenting it. Even with a defense stretched thin, the Lions have refused to succumb to their misfortunes.

To manage the injuries, the Lions have made several strategic roster changes. They acquired Za'Darius Smith at the trade deadline, which has already proven beneficial. Additionally, linebackers Ezekiel Turner and David Long, signed in November, combined for 34 defensive snaps during the Thanksgiving game. Al-Quadin Muhammad, who joined the team in October and had been inactive for the entire 2023 season, contributed 43 defensive snaps and made significant plays against the Bears. Khalil Dorsey, with just 124 career defensive snaps since 2020, was on the field for 32 plays on Thursday.

Campbell’s focus remains on preparedness and adaptability. "Whoever we have available, we're going to get them ready to play, and we expect them to hold the line, period," he said. "You've got to do your job, and everybody around you is looking for you to do your job. We’ll give the best opportunity for success and adjust as needed."
