Cowboys Expected to Add Shaka Toney and Al-Quadin Muhammad to Their Roster

The Dallas Cowboys are poised to strengthen their defensive line as they set their sights on signing two talented edge rushers. According to Patrik Walker of the team website, the Cowboys are expected to bring aboard Shaka Toney and Al-Quadin Muhammad following a recent workout session held in Oxnard, California.

Toney, a former teammate of the highly-touted rookie Micah Parsons at Penn State, has prior experience working under Cowboys defensive line coach Jeff Zgonina during his time in Washington. The 26-year-old player, who joined the NFL as a seventh-round pick for the Commanders in 2021, had an impressive presence on the field, accumulating 16 tackles, three quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks in 26 games over two seasons.

However, Toney faced a hiccup in his career as he was suspended by the league for one season due to a violation of the NFL's gambling policy. Fortunately for him, the suspension was lifted, and he was given the opportunity for a fresh start. Unfortunately for the Commanders, they decided to waive Toney in April, paving the way for the Cowboys to consider him as an addition to their roster.

In addition to Toney, the Cowboys also worked out Carl Lawson and Justin Hollins during the same session. While it remains to be seen if the team will pursue signing them, it is evident that they are taking active measures to bolster their edge rushing capabilities and add depth to their defensive unit.

The potential signings of Shaka Toney and Al-Quadin Muhammad come as exciting news for Cowboys fans who have eagerly anticipated moves to strengthen their team. With their skills and experience, these two players could provide an added spark to the already formidable defense of the Cowboys, making them an even more formidable force to contend with in the upcoming season.

Heading into the new season, the Cowboys are determined to build a solid roster that can compete at the highest level. By bringing in talented edge rushers like Toney and Muhammad, they are making a statement that they are committed to improving their defensive line and ensuring that they have the best possible chance of success in the upcoming campaign.
