In his ongoing contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys, quarterback Dak Prescott remains patient and focused on his performance on the field. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future with the team, Prescott insists that he is not motivated by money.

Prescott, who has been waiting for a long-term extension for two years now, expressed his indifference towards the financial aspect of the negotiations. "I don't play for money. Never have and never cared, to be honest with you," Prescott stated. He believes that the value of his contributions as a quarterback and a leader should be determined by the business professionals involved in the talks.

With his current contract set to expire after the 2021 season, the Cowboys have yet to reach an agreement with Prescott. As a result, the quarterback carries a significant salary cap hit of $55.4 million for this season. Additionally, his contract includes both no-trade and no-tag clauses.

If a deal is not reached, and Prescott becomes a free agent in 2025, the Cowboys would still face a considerable dead money cap hit of $40.460 million. However, the quarterback remains focused on his performance and is confident that the business side of things will take care of itself.

Throughout the negotiations, Prescott has consistently maintained leverage, as evidenced by the back-to-back franchise tags that eventually led to the four-year, $160 million contract he signed in 2021. Understanding the nature of the business, the quarterback is experienced in navigating such situations and believes in controlling what he can control.

"Business is business," Prescott affirmed. "Right now, it's about being my best for this team in this moment - OTAs and helping these guys out. I'm focused on that. I know my business will take care of itself. Been in it before. I'm experienced. Just controlling what I can control."

As discussions between Prescott's representatives and the Cowboys' front office continue, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the star quarterback. Nevertheless, Dak Prescott's unwavering patience and dedication to his team serve as a testament to his commitment to the game.
