The host country, France, is eyeing a top-five finish in the medal table and aims to win 20 gold medals, as stated by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) president, David Lappartient. Great Britain, on the other hand, is hoping to clinch "between 50 and 70" medals, according to UK Sport.

Meanwhile, Australia, which did not set a specific target for the Tokyo Games but impressively secured 17 gold medals, is taking a similar approach for Paris 2024. Australia's Chef de Mission, Anna Meares, is focused on alleviating the pressure of performance on athletes for the upcoming Olympics.

The United States led the medal tally at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo with 39 golds, followed closely by China with 38 gold medals. Moreover, Japan secured the third position with 27 golds. Great Britain, despite having more medals overall than Japan in Tokyo, aims to achieve a specific medal count for the Paris Games.

As countries gear up for the Paris 2024 Olympics, the competition is expected to be fierce as nations strive to achieve their medal targets and secure a prominent position in the medal table.
