Costco shoppers who recently purchased packages containing Tillamook cheese slices are being urged to check their items immediately, as the company has issued a recall due to the discovery of foreign plastic pieces. Tillamook County Creamery Association Executive Vice President Mike Bever confirmed the presence of these plastic pieces in a letter published on June 1st on Costco's website.

The affected product is the 32-ounce twin-pack package of Tillamook Colby Jack and Tillamook Monterey Jack cheese slices, which were sold exclusively at Costco stores in the northwest region of the United States between May 9th and May 31st. The recall only pertains to customers in Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Montana, and Idaho. The exact number of impacted Costco stores in the region is currently unknown, but it is important for customers in these areas to be cautious.

While Tillamook County Creamery Association acknowledges the presence of foreign plastic material in the recalled product, they assure consumers that the likelihood of severe medical issues due to cheese consumption is minimal. However, as a precautionary measure, customers are advised to refrain from consuming the affected cheese slices and return the package to their local Costco for a full refund.

In his letter, Executive Vice President Mike Bever provided Tillamook's email (hello@tillamook.com) and phone number ((855)-562-3568) for individuals with any issues or concerns to contact the company directly. Tillamook is committed to addressing customer concerns promptly and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of their consumers.

This recall comes shortly after Costco's recent recalls of other products earlier this year. In May, the warehouse chain recalled Veggies Made Great Breakfast Potato Bakes due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Additionally, Costco issued a recall for all packs of Fratelli Beretta brand Antipasto Gran Beretta charcuterie meat in connection to a salmonella outbreak reported by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in January.

Costco advises customers who have purchased the affected Tillamook cheese slices or any other recalled products to dispose of them or return them to the nearest Costco location for a refund. The company is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality and will continue to take necessary measures to ensure customer satisfaction.
