As we head into the weekend, the weather forecast is calling for some relief from the scorching heat we've been experiencing. While today's weather rates at a 6/10, the end of June vibes are starting to make an appearance, making it less than ideal unless you have access to air conditioning or are near the water.

After enjoying a one-day break from the hot weather on Friday, we can look forward to cooler days in the near future. However, before we reach that point, we need to endure some intense humidity, possible record warm lows tonight, and occasional showers that could attempt to alleviate the dry conditions.

For today, a warm front is expected to move north through the area in the morning. Though there was some concern about a severe storm threat, the odds of anything developing remain low, despite the potential environmental conditions. Most of the day will be partly sunny but increasingly uncomfortable due to high humidity, with temperatures soaring towards 90 degrees and even into the low 90s - resulting in a heat index of up to 100 degrees at times. Late in the day, we might see some showers trickle in from the northwest.

Tonight, there is a chance of showers and storms lingering through the evening, with the possibility of stronger storms in northern Maryland and north. Temperatures will stay elevated due to the tropical humidity, with lows primarily in the mid-70s to near 80. Additionally, some patchy fog may develop before daybreak.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the morning and midday hours will be characterized by humid and partly sunny conditions. However, an approaching cold front may bring storms to the area as it moves through, particularly in the early afternoon when the peak heating occurs. While details about these storms are still uncertain, it is advisable to stay vigilant. Before any storm activity, temperatures are forecasted to reach the mid-90s for most locations, making it feel more like 100 to 105 degrees.

Sunday night could see a lingering shower or storm, especially in southern Maryland. However, conditions will gradually clear up as lower humidity moves in behind the cold front. Lows will range from the high 50s to mid-60s, accompanied by cooler breezes.

As we start a new week, Monday is expected to be a fantastic day in terms of weather. With high pressure from Canada moving overhead, we can anticipate mostly sunny skies and temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s, providing a welcome cool-down.

On Tuesday, expect a slightly warmer day compared to Monday, with highs in the mid-80s. Plentiful sunshine will continue to bless the region before temperatures start to rise further for the upcoming holiday period.

Overall, the weekend will offer some relief from the heat, but with intermittent showers and thunderstorms. However, the promise of cooler air and pleasant weather on the horizon should make it all worthwhile. Stay prepared and stay cool!
