In a tragic incident that has left the community of Queen Creek, Arizona, devastated, 16-year-old Preston Lord passed away after being assaulted near the intersection of 194th Street and Via Del Rancho. The Queen Creek Police Department (QCPD) received a 911 call about the assault, and officers arrived within minutes to find Lord lying in the roadway. Despite their life-saving efforts, Lord succumbed to his injuries at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

The QCPD announced that they are treating Lord's death as a homicide and have launched an intensive investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. The department is awaiting findings from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office to further aid their investigation. As part of their efforts, the police have requested surveillance and doorbell camera video from a half-mile radius of the area between 6 and 10 p.m. on October 28.

Police authorities have assured the public that they are working diligently on multiple leads but have made no arrests thus far. QCPD Chief Randy Brice and Cmdr. Mark Newman addressed online rumors claiming that officers were already in attendance at the party where the attack occurred, dismissing them as false.

The investigation into this tragic incident has proven to be complex and far-reaching due to the involvement of multiple individuals. Several search warrants have been executed as investigators work tirelessly towards making an arrest.

In a display of solidarity and support for Lord's family, classmates, and friends, a candlelight vigil was held at Combs High School in San Tan Valley. The community came together to remember Lord and express their grief over the senseless act of violence that claimed his life.

The seriousness of the case prompted the involvement of the FBI's Phoenix Field Office, which has partnered with local law enforcement. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for any information that may lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect or suspects involved. Individuals can submit any relevant material, including photos and videos, at fbi.gov/prestonlord or call the FBI's toll-free tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

With the aim of ensuring the safety of all children, a group of Queen Creek residents distributed "Light Up the Night" signs. The signs urge families to light a candle until Thanksgiving Day in honor of Lord, his family, and the well-being of all youngsters.

The investigation has progressed significantly, but no one has been apprehended thus far. Community members organized a "Light the Night Community Walk" as a mark of remembrance, one month after Lord's brutal assault. The walk aimed to draw attention to the need for further investigation into teen violence and honor Lord's memory.

Queen Creek held a town council meeting to provide updates on search warrants and discuss Lord's tragic death. Chief Randy Brice addressed the public's frustration over the lack of an arrest, assuring them that the investigation is ongoing and emphasizing the department's commitment to pursuing justice.

As the investigation proceeds, the Maricopa County Attorney's Office is reviewing over 2,000 pieces of digital evidence, including more than 600 videos, according to County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. Describing it as a monumental task, Mitchell highlighted the seriousness with which her office is approaching the case.

Lord's family released a statement, urging patience from the public and media to ensure the best possible outcome in this heartbreaking situation. The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner officially ruled his death a homicide.

In a significant development, County Attorney Mitchell announced that four individuals have been indicted for murder in connection with Lord's death. It is an important step forward towards achieving justice for Lord and his grieving family.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the QCPD is actively seeking a possible witness who may have relevant information about the attack in the area where Lord was assaulted. The department urges anyone with information to come forward and assist in the case.

This heartbreaking incident has drawn attention to the urgent need for awareness and action against teenage violence in the community. The Queen Creek community continues to stand united, supporting Lord's family and demanding justice for the young life cut short by unnecessary violence.
