### Colts Rule Out Key Players for Week 8 Matchup Against Houston Texans

The Indianapolis Colts, preparing for their Week 8 clash with the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium, announced that defensive end Genard Avery and linebacker Jaylon Carlies will not be available for the game. Head coach Shane Steichen provided updates on the current status of other key players, including running back Jonathan Taylor and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.

Genard Avery has been sidelined due to a foot injury, having played in only one game this season. Meanwhile, Jaylon Carlies is dealing with injuries to both his fibula and shoulder, which he sustained during the Colts' Week 7 victory over the Miami Dolphins. The absence of these defensive players will require the Colts to adjust their strategy on that side of the ball.

DeForest Buckner, who has been hampered by an ankle injury, remains questionable for the game. Buckner, who has not seen action since Week 2, was limited in practice on Wednesday but fully participated on Thursday. He was also given a rest day on Friday. Before he can take the field, the Colts need to activate him from injured reserve.

In more positive news for Colts fans, running back Jonathan Taylor appears set to make his return. After missing games since Week 4 due to an ankle injury sustained against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Taylor participated fully in practices on Thursday and Friday this week. With no game status designation in the final practice report, Taylor is expected to play against the Texans.

Steichen expressed optimism regarding both Taylor and Buckner's prospects for the upcoming game, noting that they are "tracking very well." This is especially encouraging as the team looks to bolster its lineup amid the absences of Avery and Carlies.

As game day approaches, the Colts will need to rely on their depth and resilience to overcome the injuries and secure a victory against their division rivals in Houston.
