In a tragic turn of events, the body of 22-year-old college student Riley Strain was discovered in the Cumberland River, according to the latest updates provided by Fox News' Steve Harrigan. Nashville authorities have stressed that there are no signs of trauma or foul play in the case.

Strain, a senior at the University of Missouri, went missing on March 8 after a night out in downtown Nashville. It was on the morning of March 22 that workers along the Cumberland River in West Nashville found his body in the water, approximately 8 miles from downtown.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) stated that a detective attended the autopsy examination, and preliminary results indicate that Strain's death "continues to appear accidental," with "no foul play-related trauma." However, toxicology results are still pending, and the Davidson County Medical Examiner's office estimates that the autopsy will take approximately 12 weeks to conclude.

During a press conference, Strain's parents urged parents to cherish their children, with his mother, Michelle Whiteid, saying, "I just ask that you mamas out there hug your babies tight tonight, please." Meanwhile, his father, Ryan Gilbert, expressed gratitude for the support they have received, stating that Strain "captured the hearts of people across the country" and thanked everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and efforts in trying to find him.

Strain's disappearance garnered national attention, as he was visiting Nashville for his fraternity's spring formal trip. On the evening of March 8, while drinking with friends at Luke Bryan's downtown bar, Strain was asked to leave by the staff of Luke's 32. According to the bar's statement, he was escorted out with one member of his party, while the other individual did not exit and returned upstairs.

Friends reported Strain as missing when he failed to make it back to his hotel, which was supposed to be a short walk away. Police are still investigating how Strain ended up walking in the opposite direction of his hotel. Family spokesperson Chris Dingman suggested that he may have entered the wrong destination into a map on his phone, but authorities are exploring all possibilities.

The tragic death of Riley Strain serves as a reminder to hold loved ones close and to be cautious during nights out. As authorities continue their investigation, the community mourns the loss of a promising young student whose life was cut short under mysterious circumstances.
