ICARO Media Group
In the latest D1Baseball Postseason Projections, the top eight national seeds in college baseball remain unchanged. Texas A&M, Arkansas, Clemson, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and East Carolina continue to hold onto their coveted spots. However, Wake Forest drops out of the top eight after losing a series against Notre Dame.
Taking the Demon Deacons' place is Florida State, which secured a significant road series win over Duke. The Seminoles now have a favorable schedule ahead, boosting their chances of securing a top seed.
Aside from the top eight, other teams are vying for Top 16 seeds and regional hosting opportunities. Oregon State is steadily climbing back up the rankings, currently sitting at number nine and knocking on the door of a top eight seed once again.
This week's projections also introduce two new Top 16 seeds. Arizona and Coastal Carolina drop out after disappointing weekends, while UCSB (University of California, Santa Barbara) and Oklahoma State enter the picture. Oklahoma State remains in contention for the Big 12 Conference regular season title with a strong overall resume and impressive RPI. UCSB boasts a solid non-conference record and has soared to number 17 in the latest RPI rankings, making them a potential host team in Santa Barbara.
The projections highlight the dominance of certain conferences in the postseason picture. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) leads the way with ten teams projected to make the field, closely followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with nine representatives. The Big 12 has seven teams in contention, including two bubble teams, TCU and Kansas. The Pac-12 and Sun Belt conferences each have four teams represented, while the Big East, Big Ten, Coastal Conference USA, and Big West each have two teams.
The "Last Four In" teams currently sitting on the bubble are St. John's, Northeastern, Florida, and Purdue. On the other hand, the "First Four Out" consists of TCU, UNC Wilmington, Kansas, and James Madison.
