In the final NCAA Tournament projections, Clemson University's baseball team could potentially face off against one of two SEC powers, LSU or South Carolina, in their regional. The Tigers, expected to be a Top-8 National Seed, have the opportunity to host all the way up to the College World Series round.
According to both D1Baseball and Baseball America, Clemson is predicted to settle into the No. 6 overall spot. Baseball America's bracket includes a Palmetto State-themed regional, with South Carolina, Coastal Carolina, and Penn filling out the field, opposite of the Oklahoma regional in the next round.
Clemson's baseball team has had some obstacles this season, with rain cancellations affecting their scheduled series against Coastal Carolina. However, they did manage to defeat South Carolina 2-0 in a rain-altered, multi-site series, securing wins both in Clemson and in Columbia's Segra Park.
While a rivalry rematch with South Carolina had been a longstanding projection by D1Baseball, they are now predicting a matchup against reigning national champions LSU, who recently made an impressive charge to the SEC title game. D1Baseball's projections for the Clemson regional also include College of Charleston and Bryant, with a potential Super Regional matchup against the winner of the NC State regional.
In recent years, Clemson has faced tough competition from SEC 2-seeds in home regionals, falling to Vanderbilt in 2017 and 2018, as well as Tennessee in 2023. The program is eager to secure their first regional championship since 2010 and break the streak of five consecutive home regionals without advancing.
The selection process for the NCAA baseball tournament is ongoing, and the official announcement of which teams will be coming to Clemson is set to be made later today on ESPN2. Excitement is building among fans, who are eagerly waiting to see if the Tigers will face off against a formidable SEC opponent or their in-state rivals, South Carolina.
As the Tigers prepare for the NCAA Baseball Tournament, the team remains focused and determined to make a strong run towards the College World Series. They are ready to showcase their talent and compete against the best in the nation, aiming to bring home a regional championship and ultimately contend for the national title.
