### AJ Styles' Injury Status Clarified Amid Conflicting Reports
Recent developments have provided more clarity on AJ Styles' injury status following mixed reports about his appearance on the October 4 episode of SmackDown. During his match against Carmelo Hayes, Styles appeared to suffer a foot injury, prompting the bout to be canceled. This left fans uncertain whether the injury was a scripted segment or a real issue.
Initial confusion was fueled by varying accounts from different sources. While Fightful Select previously suggested that the injury angle was planned and that Styles was unhurt, WWE broadcaster Jackie Redmond and Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer asserted the injury was genuine. Adding weight to this claim, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful issued an update corroborating Meltzer’s report, confirming that the feeling backstage is that Styles indeed sustained a legitimate injury.
Sapp elaborated on Twitter, stating: "People in WWE claimed this to me today regarding AJ Styles – 'The flip where he sold the knee was to be a work. The move where he landed on the knee was legit.'" Sapp also mentioned that WWE had contingency plans, including camera focus on Styles and a segment in the trainer's room, indicating the seriousness of the situation.
Further information from Jackie Redmond revealed that Styles suffered a "midfoot ligament sprain," commonly known as a Lisfranc injury. Styles himself acknowledged Redmond's report by sharing her tweet and adding, "I believe everything happens for a reason. I'll keep you updated."
As the WWE Universe eagerly awaits more news, the organization has committed to providing further updates on Styles' condition. In the meantime, fans and colleagues alike extend their well-wishes for AJ Styles' speedy and healthy recovery.
