### Chelsea Unwilling to Meet AC Milan's €30M Asking Price for Mike Maignan
Reports from yesterday suggested Chelsea were closely monitoring the contract situation of AC Milan's 29-year-old goalkeeper, Mike Maignan. These reports indicated that Chelsea was prepared to make a €25 million offer for his services. However, Sky Sports has revealed today that Chelsea is unwilling to pay anywhere near that amount and will not exceed their valuation, which they consider "realistic and reasonable" for a player who is about to enter the final year of his contract.
According to insights from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea's definition of a reasonable offer is set at just €10 million. This figure is deemed practical, especially when compared to the fees paid for other goalkeepers such as Robert Sánchez, Filip Jörgensen, Đorđe Petrović, and the young Mike Penders, all of whom were acquired for around €20 million each. Incidentally, the halfway point between Chelsea's current offer and Milan's asking price is approximately €20 million, which might seem like a more feasible compromise.
Despite their interest, Chelsea and AC Milan are currently far apart in their valuation of Maignan. AC Milan is holding out for around €30 million, a price Chelsea deems too steep given the player's contract situation. Chelsea has set a deadline for a resolution by Monday, stating that they are satisfied with the four goalkeepers already in their squad, implying that they will not drag out negotiations for much longer.
