Channing Tatum and his ex-wife Jenna Dewan are set to appear in court on April 12 for a high-profile divorce trial, six years after their separation. The former couple is embroiled in a financial dispute, with Dewan claiming that she is entitled to additional profits from Tatum's successful "Magic Mike" film franchise, according to court documents obtained by NBC News.

Dewan argues that the "intellectual property" and financial success of the "Magic Mike" franchise were developed during their marriage and should be considered as community property. Tatum disagrees, stating that he continued to create and develop the franchise after their split, which should give him a separate property interest.

The legal battle revolves around the "Magic Mike" film series, which Tatum starred in and produced. The first film was released in 2012 and became a hit, inspired by Tatum's own experiences as a stripper. The franchise expanded with a sequel in 2015 and plans for another installment called "Magic Mike's Last Dance" in 2023, after Tatum and Dewan's separation.

Dewan's petition also mentions the "extremely lucrative" live shows, reality TV series, and stage performances based on the "Magic Mike" character. She claims that Tatum and his business associates have created a complex network of companies and partnerships to conceal the true value of the franchise's profits.

Furthermore, Dewan accuses Tatum of making business decisions regarding the franchise without her consent, as well as failing to disclose business opportunities related to "Magic Mike" after their split in 2018.

As the divorce trial approaches, both Tatum and Dewan have called each other as witnesses to support their respective claims. Dewan's lawyer has also requested a separate trial to determine how the couple's assets should be divided.

While Dewan has found happiness with fiancé Steve Kazee, expecting their second child, Tatum has been dating actress Zoë Kravitz since 2021, with news of their engagement confirmed in October 2023.

The trial is expected to shed light on the financial intricacies and ownership of the profitable "Magic Mike" franchise, as Tatum and Dewan navigate the legal issues surrounding their divorce and the division of their assets.
