A tragic incident occurred at Campbellsville University when 18-year-old Josiah Malachi Kilman, a freshman wrestler from Columbia Falls, Montana, was discovered unresponsive in his dorm room at 12:43 a.m. Saturday. Following preliminary autopsy results, the Taylor County Coroner's Office revealed that Kilman died as a result of asphyxia by manual strangulation. The local coroner announced the cause of death on Monday, pointing out that Charles E. Escalara, a 21-year-old student and former member of the school's men's wrestling team, was arrested on a murder charge in connection with Kilman's passing.

Campbellsville police, who are still investigating the motive behind the crime, apprehended Escalara on Saturday evening after he was found in a barn in Green County just after 5 p.m. Kilman's family, describing him as a devoted Christian with a passion for leading others through biblical scholarship, mourned the loss of the young man known for his athleticism and religious leadership. University President Joseph Hopkins expressed deep sadness, hailing Kilman as a beloved member of the community and a bright light.

Campbellsville University, a private Christian institution located 85 miles south of Louisville, is left reeling from the tragic loss as the investigation into Josiah Kilman's death continues.
