Boston Celtics' guard Aaron Holiday is currently nursing an arm injury that has left his return date uncertain. The 33-year-old NBA veteran suffered a shoulder sprain during a game against the Washington Wizards last Sunday. Despite the pain, Holiday attempted to continue playing and stayed in the game for an additional six minutes.
The injury, commonly referred to as "dead arm syndrome," is often associated with repeated throwing motions and is frequently seen among baseball pitchers. Symptoms include arm fatigue, inability to generate force while throwing, and numbness. According to HealthLine, proper rest and rehabilitation are usually recommended for recovery.
Holiday is under the care of the Celtics' medical staff, and while he is being treated, his main focus is on resting to accelerate his healing process. Speaking to reporter Adam Himmelsbach, Holiday expressed that he is feeling better and itching to return to the court soon, but he remains unsure when that will be.
Since joining the Celtics from the Portland Trail Blazers in October last year, Holiday has played an integral role in the team's success this season. The veteran guard has started in all 61 games he has played, only missing nine contests due to various reasons.
Despite the Celtics' ability to perform well even without key starters, they are undoubtedly eager to have Holiday back in action, especially with only 12 regular-season games remaining. Holiday's defensive prowess has been a significant asset for Boston this year, averaging 5.4 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.
As he continues his recovery and rest, Holiday's return to the court will be eagerly anticipated by Celtics fans and his teammates alike. Updates on his condition and progress will be closely monitored by the team as they aim to maintain their strong momentum heading into the postseason.
