Boston Bruins Make Multiple Roster Moves, Sign Lindholm, Zadorov, and More

In an exciting series of roster transactions, the Boston Bruins have bolstered their lineup with the signings of several key players. General Manager Don Sweeney announced the acquisitions on July 1, showcasing the team's commitment to strengthening their roster for the upcoming season.

Leading the pack is forward Elias Lindholm, who has signed a lucrative seven-year contract worth an annual NHL cap hit of $7.75 million. Lindholm, a seasoned player at 29 years old, had an impressive 2023-24 season, splitting his time between the Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames. Notching 15 goals and 29 assists for a total of 44 points in the season, Lindholm brings a wealth of experience and scoring prowess to the Bruins. The Swedish native was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Another notable addition to the Bruins' defensive core is defenseman Nikita Zadorov. The 29-year-old player signed a six-year contract with an annual NHL cap hit of $5 million. Throughout the 2023-24 season, Zadorov showcased his skills with appearances for both the Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames. He recorded six goals and 14 assists, accumulating a total of 20 points. Zadorov's physical presence and extensive NHL experience, having played for various teams including the Chicago Blackhawks and the Colorado Avalanche, make him an invaluable addition to the Bruins. He was chosen by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

The Bruins also secured the services of forwards Max Jones, Riley Tufte, Cole Koepke, and Jeffrey Viel, as well as defensemen Jordan Oesterle and Billy Sweezey. Jones, at 26 years old, signed a two-year contract with an annual NHL cap hit of $1 million. With the Anaheim Ducks, he tallied five goals and 10 assists for a total of 15 points during the 2023-24 season.

Tufte, also a forward, agreed to a one-year contract with an NHL cap hit of $775,000. The 26-year-old player showcased his skills in five games with the Colorado Avalanche, scoring one goal and providing one assist. In addition, he impressed in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles, recording an impressive 45 points in 67 games.

Koepke, a forward hailing from Hermantown, Minnesota, signed a one-year, two-way contract with an NHL cap hit of $775,000. The 26-year-old player made two assists in nine games with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2023-24 season.

Adding to the Bruins' defensive depth, Jordan Oesterle and Billy Sweezey joined the team. Oesterle, 32, signed a two-year, two-way contract with an annual NHL cap hit of $775,000. Having played for various NHL teams like the Chicago Blackhawks and the Arizona Coyotes, Oesterle brings extensive experience to the Bruins' blue line. Meanwhile, 28-year-old Sweezey signed a two-year, two-way contract as well. Though primarily an AHL player with the Cleveland Monsters, Sweezey has also made a mark in the NHL with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Last but not least, forward Jeffrey Viel agreed to a two-year contract with an annual NHL cap hit of $775,000. The 27-year-old Quebec native showcased his skills with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL, notching 40 points in 69 games during the 2023-24 season. He has also gained some NHL experience with the San Jose Sharks.

With these signings, the Boston Bruins are gearing up for an exciting and competitive season ahead. The team’s acquisitions of Lindholm, Zadorov, and other talented players demonstrate their commitment to playoff success and their determination to bring home the Stanley Cup.
