### Boeing Lays Off Over 400 Aerospace Union Members Amid 10% Workforce Reduction
Boeing has recently terminated the employment of over 400 members of its professional aerospace labor union, a significant move as part of a wider reduction in its workforce. This layoff is in line with the company's decision to cut down its total labor force by 10%, which translates to around 17,000 jobs across Boeing’s commercial, defense, and global services divisions.
The announcement of these job cuts was made in October, and notifications to the affected employees began this Wednesday. The impacted workers are expected to remain on the company’s payroll until mid-January, ensuring some continuity and financial support in the immediate future.
In support of the laid-off employees, Boeing is providing several benefits. Eligible workers will receive career transition services and subsidized healthcare benefits for up to three months. Furthermore, severance packages will be offered, generally comprising one week of pay for each year of service rendered to the company.
