According to an industry source, BOE, a Chinese display manufacturer, is expected to secure the majority, if not all, of the orders for 6.1-inch OLED panels for the upcoming iPhone SE 4. The report indicates that Samsung, another major supplier, decided to withdraw from the race due to the low pricing proposed by Apple.

The unnamed source revealed that a single 6.1-inch OLED panel costs approximately $30 when sourced from Samsung. However, Apple offered a lower price of $25 per unit, leading Samsung to decline the negotiations. Interestingly, the report suggests that Apple's proposed price is even lower than what Chinese display makers are asking.

Given Samsung's exit from the picture, BOE and Tianma are now the remaining potential suppliers for the iPhone SE 4. However, the industry insider indicates that BOE is likely to secure all of the orders for the OLED display panels.

Insiders familiar with the matter claim that Samsung was not heavily invested in the deal from the beginning due to low profit margins. Therefore, when Apple requested an even lower price per unit, Samsung swiftly ended the negotiations.

This development marks a significant shift in the supply chain for Apple's iPhone SE 4. BOE, known for its expertise in display manufacturing, is poised to become a prominent supplier of OLED panels for Apple's latest smartphone offering. With their competitive pricing and potential to meet Apple's requirements, BOE is well positioned to secure a significant market share.

Neither Apple nor Samsung have officially commented on this news. However, industry experts believe that this shift in suppliers is unlikely to have a major impact on the release and availability of the highly anticipated iPhone SE 4, as BOE's capabilities make up for the absence of Samsung.

The iPhone SE 4, which is expected to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display, is scheduled to launch later this year, although an exact date has not been disclosed. As consumers eagerly await the release of this mid-range smartphone, the role of BOE in its production remains a key point of interest.
