### Nix Throws First NFL Touchdown to Secure Broncos' Narrow Win Over Rodgers and the Jets
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Bo Nix threw his inaugural NFL touchdown as the Denver Broncos edged out the New York Jets 10-9 in a defensive duel on a wet Sunday. The Broncos, who struggled offensively in the first half, managed to fend off a hobbled Aaron Rodgers and a mistake-prone Jets team to secure the win.
Rodgers appeared to injure his left leg, the same one that required Achilles surgery last year, after a fourth-quarter sack. Although it seemed like he might have fumbled, the Broncos couldn't challenge the play as they were out of challenges. Despite returning for the next possession, Rodgers couldn't muster any momentum. On a crucial fourth-and-10 from New York’s 45-yard line, he was sacked by a blitzing P.J. Locke, giving the Broncos possession at the Jets' 35.
Denver's defense then made critical stops, using up all of New York’s timeouts. However, the Broncos' drive concluded with Wil Lutz missing a 50-yard field goal wide left, handing the Jets another opportunity. New York advanced to the Broncos' 32-yard line but failed to capitalize when Greg Zuerlein's 50-yard attempt veered right with just 51 seconds remaining, allowing Nix and the Broncos to kneel down for the victory.
Rodgers completed 24 of 42 passes for 225 yards but was brought down five times by the Broncos' defense. The Jets' performance was marred by 13 penalties. Meanwhile, Nix, after a rough start with just seven completions for minus-seven yards in the first half, ended with 60 yards on 12-of-25 passing and no turnovers. His game-winning moment came in the third quarter with a touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton, giving Denver a 7-6 lead.
Following Zuerlein's 40-yarder that briefly put the Jets back in front, Denver responded with a series of seven straight runs, culminating in Lutz's 47-yard field goal to reclaim the lead at 10-9 with 8:55 left.
The opening quarter saw a defensive stalemate, with the Jets managing just 15 total yards and the Broncos 6. New York finally scored early in the second quarter with a 23-yard field goal from Zuerlein. This came after a frightening incident in which Broncos running back Tyler Badie was carted off with a back injury following a hit by Quincy Williams.
Before halftime, Zuerlein added another field goal from 35 yards, giving the Jets a 6-0 lead. A notable moment in the third quarter saw New York's Allen Lazard penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after making a first down gesture deemed a "gun-like" gesture by officials, a point of emphasis in the league this season.
Up next, the Broncos will host the AFC West-rival Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, while the Jets are set to travel to London to face Minnesota at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
