President Biden's re-election campaign has announced a staggering fundraising success for the month of January. With over $42 million raised and a total of $130 million in cash-on-hand across all joint-fundraising committees, the Biden campaign is boasting the highest total amassed by any Democratic candidate at this stage of the election cycle in history.
In contrast, the Trump campaign reported only $30 million in cash-on-hand at the end of January, although specific fundraising numbers for the month have not been released yet. Biden campaign official Ammar Moussa pointed out the challenging financial situation faced by Donald Trump, mentioning that the Republican National Committee struggled with fundraising last year and is now facing cash flow issues.
Trump's campaign, on the other hand, emphasizes the support from small-dollar donors across the country and points to early general election polls where Trump is leading or statistically tied with Biden. Trump's national press secretary, Karolina Leavitt, highlighted the dissatisfaction among voters and the belief that Trump is the better candidate to address issues such as inflation, border security, and crime.
Notably, Trump's campaign is also dealing with the aftermath of last year's $50 million spent on legal challenges, which has contributed to Biden's financial advantage. This advantage has been further highlighted by the recent revelation that the Republican National Committee is facing financial struggles and disarray in crucial swing states, with the Democratic National Committee holding nearly three times the cash-on-hand to start the election year.
The upcoming election promises to be a battle of financial strength and voter support, with both campaigns gearing up for a fierce competition ahead of the November election.
