The Biden administration has been engaged in diplomatic talks with Russia, China, and India regarding Russia's suspected development of a space-based antisatellite weapon with nuclear capabilities. Despite concerns that Russia may proceed with testing the weapon, U.S. officials have opted to keep intelligence about the program under wraps to prevent potential escalation. The officials have reached out to China and India, emphasizing the danger of satellite damage and engaging with them at the Munich Security Conference on February 17. National security adviser Jake Sullivan planned to brief lawmakers on the strategy before House Intelligence Chair Mike Turner's release of a statement sparked media attention. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has also communicated with counterparts in China and India, while Turner has voiced his concerns about the seriousness of the threat posed by Russia's weapon. The administration has taken a cautious approach, prioritizing private engagement over public disclosure of the intelligence to address the issue effectively.
