Frank Fritz, renowned co-host of the History Channel’s hit show "American Pickers," passed away on Monday. The 60-year-old had been battling health issues, including a stroke he suffered in 2022, as reported by Variety.

Mike Wolfe, Fritz’s fellow picker and close friend, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, expressing his profound sorrow and admiration for Fritz. Wolfe reminisced about their long-standing friendship, emphasizing Fritz’s unique charm and sensitivity. "I've known Frank for more than half my life and what you've seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny," Wolfe wrote. He also conveyed his gratitude for being with Fritz during his final moments, adding, "I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home."

"American Pickers," which debuted in 2010, followed Fritz and Wolfe as they scoured the country for antique treasures. The duo's camaraderie and passion for Americana captured the hearts of many viewers. Fritz ran his own antique shop, Frank Fritz Finds, located in Savanna, Illinois, and was a significant part of the show until 2020. His departure stemmed from a combination of back surgery, Crohn’s disease, and concerns over being immunocompromised at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fritz’s relationship with the show had its turbulent moments. In an interview with The Sun in 2021, he expressed his frustration over feeling abandoned by Wolfe and the production team after his surgery and during the pandemic. Despite these challenges, the pair managed to reconcile by 2023.

The production company, Cineflix Production, and the History Channel paid tribute to Fritz in a joint statement to Variety. They remembered him fondly as "the bearded charmer" and highlighted his relentless pursuit of vintage motorcycles and bikes. "Frank filmed American Pickers for over a decade," the statement read, with a heartfelt note that he will be deeply missed by his loved ones and fans alike.

Wolfe’s tribute also reflected on their pre-show adventures, filled with spontaneity and a shared passion for history. "Before the show we would take off together to places we never knew existed with no destination in mind and just the shared passion to discover something interesting and historic," Wolfe wrote.

Frank Fritz's legacy as an avid collector and a beloved television figure will undoubtedly endure, leaving a lasting impact on both his close companions and dedicated fans.
