The Chicago Bears made a significant move to strengthen their pass rush, as they agreed to acquire edge rusher Darrell Taylor from the Seattle Seahawks. The deal is pending a physical examination and involves the Bears sending a 2025 sixth-round draft pick to the Seahawks.

Darrell Taylor, a second-round pick in the 2020 draft out of Tennessee, brings an impressive resume to the Bears' defensive line. Although he missed his rookie season due to an injury, the 6-foot-4, 267-pound lineman has showcased his skills in the past three seasons, playing in all 49 games with 13 starts.

During his time with the Seahawks, Taylor has accumulated 91 tackles, 21.5 sacks, 22 tackles-for-loss, and five forced fumbles. Last year, he recorded 28 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and seven tackles-for-loss, demonstrating his ability to disrupt opposing offenses. In 2022, Taylor had 26 tackles, a career-high 9.5 sacks, and eight tackles-for-loss, showcasing his consistent development and impact on the field.

To create space on the roster for Taylor, the Bears waived defensive end Khalid Kareem, who has been with the team for four years. Additionally, the contract of receiver Freddie Swain, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week, was terminated.

The addition of Darrell Taylor will provide the Bears with a formidable pass rushing option to complement their defensive unit. With his proven ability to disrupt quarterbacks and disrupt plays behind the line of scrimmage, Taylor is expected to make an immediate impact. Bears fans will be eager to see his contributions in the upcoming season as the team strives to strengthen their defense.

The Bears have been active in the offseason, addressing key areas of their roster to improve their chances of success in the upcoming season. With the acquisition of Darrell Taylor, they have taken a significant step forward in fortifying their pass rush, making them a more formidable force in the league.
