In a shocking incident that transpired in downtown Los Angeles, a man armed with a BB gun allegedly hijacked a Metro bus early Thursday morning, causing a series of collisions before crashing into a hotel.

According to official statements from Metro officials, the incident took place around midnight when authorities responded to reports of a Metro bus on Line 2 being hijacked at gunpoint. The male suspect reportedly forced the bus driver to travel to multiple locations, resulting in several collisions with other vehicles along the way.

Startling surveillance footage captured one of the collisions occurring as the bus ran a red light at the intersection of West 11th Street and South Grand Avenue. Another vehicle traveling through the intersection collided with the bus, potentially hindered by a separate bus in the adjacent lane.

After a few blocks, the hijacked bus forcefully crashed into the side of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel located at West Olympic Boulevard and Georgia Street. The impact caused the bus to partially penetrate the hotel's wall, possibly damaging a vault inside the building.

Both the bus driver and one individual involved in the collisions sustained injuries and were quickly transported to a local hospital. Metro officials have confirmed that their conditions are currently stable. Fortunately, no passengers were aboard the bus during the hijacking incident.

The suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Anai Lindsey, was apprehended by the Los Angeles Police Department shortly after fleeing the scene. Authorities have described Lindsey as an unhoused individual and he now faces kidnapping charges. Notably, the BB gun used in the incident was successfully recovered from the bus.

Officials are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477. The investigation into the shocking hijacking and subsequent collisions is still ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the motives behind the incident.
