Baseball legend and Hall of Fame member, Wade Boggs, revealed on Saturday night through social media that he is currently battling prostate cancer. The former third baseman, known for his impressive career, remains optimistic as he prepares to undergo treatment and look forward to the day when he can ring the bell of victory alongside other cancer survivors.

Boggs, 66, expressed his determination to overcome this hurdle, stating that with the unwavering support of his family and his faith in God, he will triumph over prostate cancer. Accompanying his post was a photo of a prostate cancer patient guide, indicating his readiness to face the challenges that lie ahead.

The talented athlete had an illustrious 18-season career in Major League Baseball, playing for the Boston Red Sox from 1982 to 1992, the New York Yankees from 1993 to 1997, and the then-Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 1998 to 1999. As a five-time batting champion and 12-time All-Star, Boggs made an indelible mark on the sport, earning him a well-deserved induction into the esteemed Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005, with an impressive 91.9% of the votes in his favor.

In his career, Boggs boasted a remarkable batting average of .328 and achieved the significant milestone of joining the prestigious 3,000-hit club, ultimately finishing with 3,010 hits. With over 1,500 runs, 118 home runs, and 1,014 runs batted in, he left an unforgettable legacy on the baseball field.

The Baseball Hall of Fame extended their support to Boggs, assuring him that they are with him every step of the way. Their message of encouragement was shared on social media, stating, "We're with you every step of the way, Wade!"

Boggs finds solace in the fact that he is not alone in his battle against prostate cancer. Ryne Sandberg, a fellow Hall of Fame inductee from the class of 2005, announced in mid-August that he was cancer-free after receiving treatment for metastatic prostate cancer. Sandberg joyfully shared the news, expressing heartfelt gratitude towards his family, medical professionals, friends, nurses, and fans who supported him and his wife throughout their journey.

Wade Boggs remains determined to defeat prostate cancer and join the ranks of cancer survivors. With his resilient spirit, the support of his loved ones, and the well-wishes of fans around the world, Boggs is ready to face the challenges that lie ahead.
