### Ravens Fan in Viral Attack Video Surrenders to Police
A Baltimore Ravens supporter, who became infamous after a video of him assaulting two Washington Commanders fans went viral, has turned himself in to authorities.
The suspect, 24-year-old John Callis, is now being held without bail following his surrender. Callis is facing charges of first-degree aggravated assault and three counts of second-degree assault. The incident, which quickly spread across social media, occurred on October 13th after a Ravens-Commanders game and showed Callis punching and kicking the two fans.
Court appearances reveal a troubling background for Callis. According to officials, he was reportedly on a 15-day binge involving alcohol and cocaine at the time of the attack. During his hearing, the judge mentioned the possibility of transferring Callis to a patient treatment facility. This consideration comes in light of the fact that Callis had previously been placed on probation for a violent assault on York Road in Towson. Despite being ordered to undergo addiction treatment at that time, there is no evidence he complied.
Prosecutors provided further details on his violent behavior, reporting that during the York Road incident, Callis severely beat a man who appeared to be unconscious. In the more recent attack involving the Commanders fans, Callis reportedly assaulted the individuals twice. The video shows him attacking the fans again as they returned to retrieve their phone and wallet.
The case continues to gain public attention, raising questions about the effectiveness of previous judicial orders and underscoring the need for addressing violent behavior and substance abuse issues comprehensively.
