Prosecutors in Maricopa County, Arizona, have declined to agree to extradite Raad Almansoori to New York at this time, where he is accused of murdering a woman in SoHo. The decision comes as they express doubt in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's ability to handle the case effectively.

Almansoori is currently detained in Arizona, facing charges for stabbing two women. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell is insisting that Almansoori remain in Arizona, citing concerns over mandatory prison sentences and questioning the treatment of violent criminals in New York under DA Bragg's jurisdiction.

In response, a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney, Emily Tuttle, criticized Mitchell's stance, calling it "deeply disturbing" and accusing her of playing politics in a murder investigation. Tuttle emphasized the efforts made by law enforcement in New York to reduce crime rates and ensure public safety.

During a news conference, Surprise, Ariz. Police Chief Benny Piña highlighted Almansoori's potential danger, stating that the arrest likely prevented further harm. Almansoori allegedly confessed to killing someone in New York and is also linked to a sexual assault case in Florida earlier this year.

Leah Palian, a witness to the Florida incident, recounted a harrowing experience involving Almansoori's violent behavior. She expressed frustration over the dropped charges in Florida and warned of potential future crimes if he was not held accountable.

In light of these developments, Mitchell indicated that New York could proceed with an extradition request, but she preferred to continue handling the case in Arizona for now. Authorities are also exploring potential connections to other crimes with the assistance of the FBI.
