**Apple Unveils New M4 iMac with Enhanced RAM and Upgraded Accessories**

Apple has introduced its latest lineup of 24-inch iMacs, featuring the new M4 processor, marking the first major update to the base model RAM since 2012. Starting at $1,299, the new iMacs are available for preorder now and will start shipping on November 8.

The biggest upgrade in the new M4 iMac is the increase in base RAM from 8GB to 16GB, a significant improvement compared to the previous M1 and M3 models. Despite the enhanced RAM, the entry-level price remains steady at $1,299, providing substantial value for buyers. The base storage remains 256GB, but there are options to upgrade storage post-purchase since RAM upgrades are not possible after buying.

In addition to the M4 processor, the new iMacs feature redesigned Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad accessories, now equipped with USB-C ports for charging instead of the older Lightning ports. This change aligns with Apple's gradual move away from Lightning products, although the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 still use the older port.

The base $1,299 iMac model includes an M4 chip with eight CPU cores and eight GPU cores, with two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports on the back and a Magic Keyboard without a Touch ID fingerprint reader. All M4 iMacs come with a 12-megapixel webcam supporting the Desk View feature, although video recording remains capped at 1080p.

For an additional $200, the $1,499 model offers a fully enabled M4 chip with 10 CPU and GPU cores, four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a gigabit Ethernet port in the power brick, and a Touch ID Magic Keyboard. There is also a $1,699 variant with 512GB of storage and a $1,899 variant that adds 24GB of RAM alongside the storage upgrade.

A notable feature in the higher-end M4 iMac is its support for up to three displays — the built-in screen plus two external displays with up to 6K resolution or a single 8K 120 Hz display. This is a first for a base-model M-series Mac, which could appeal to users who need multiple monitors.

The color options for the iMac have been slightly refreshed, with all seven hues — blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, green, and silver — now available across all price points. Previously, color choices were limited based on the model tier. The new shades are subtly lighter compared to last year's versions, although the difference may be hard to notice without direct comparison.

These new iMacs will run macOS Sequoia 15.1 and support the full range of Apple Intelligence features right out of the box. Additionally, the more expensive models offer further customizations, including RAM upgrades to 32GB and storage options up to 2TB, as well as a nano-texture glass option for the screen.

Apple’s latest M4 iMac represents a significant leap forward in both hardware and user flexibility, catering to both aesthetics and performance enthusiasts.
