Apple's Design Secrets Revealed: Unused iPhone Concepts Leak Out
ICARO Media Group
In a recent report by MacRumors, it has been uncovered that Apple considered various design concepts before finalizing the notch and Dynamic Island for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models. Mockup images have surfaced, showcasing rejected ideas that didn't make the cut.
One of the ideas in consideration was a pop-up sidebar to accompany the notch, displaying essential information like time, signal strength, and battery level. Another design option explored by Apple was extending the notch across the top of the screen, resembling an Android-style status bar, possibly offering users improved battery life.
Apple's design team also experimented with the Dynamic Island feature, initially seen on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Among the discarded ideas was a row of status icons beneath the selfie camera. Additionally, designers toyed with the concept of a permanently elongated Dynamic Island before opting for a shape-shifting version based on contextual cues.
While these ideas may not have made it to production, there's speculation that they could resurface in the future as Apple continues to refine its iPhone lineup. There's also discussion about the potential disappearance of the notch and Dynamic Island, should Apple find a way to integrate the selfie camera and sensors under the display, following Samsung's lead with the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
