**Anthony Richardson Reclaims Colts’ Starting Quarterback Spot**
Anthony Richardson, the Indianapolis Colts' 22-year-old quarterback and the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has been reinstated as the team's starting quarterback. Previously benched in favor of veteran Joe Flacco, Richardson's controversial decision to remove himself from a game against the Texans - despite not being injured - led to his temporary replacement.
Just two days ago, Colts head coach Shane Steichen had announced that the 39-year-old Flacco would continue to start in Sunday's game against the New York Jets. However, on Wednesday morning, Steichen altered his decision and announced that Richardson would start for the remainder of the NFL season.
"It's the attention to detail in everything he does," Steichen commented on Richardson. "All the little things just have to be at a higher standard. That was discussed with him two weeks ago, and he's made strides in those areas. He's a pros pro. It's my job to get him there."
This decision follows the Colts' loss to the Bills on Sunday, leaving Indianapolis with a 4-6 record for the season. Richardson's rookie season was notably shortened by injury, allowing him to start just 10 NFL games before being benched. According to ESPN, the Colts have emphasized that they never gave up on the former Florida quarterback.
Richardson's reinstatement marks a significant turn for both the player and the team as they look to improve their standing in the league.
