### Ana Gasteyer Shares Hilarious Anecdote from 'SNL' Days

Ana Gasteyer, a former cast member of "Saturday Night Live," recently reminisced about her memorable experiences on the iconic show during an appearance on the "Las Culturistas" podcast hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers. One standout story involved her colleague Will Ferrell and an unexpected interruption of Sean "Diddy" Combs' rehearsal.

Gasteyer, who was with "SNL" from 1996 to 2002, worked alongside notable names such as Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, and Maya Rudolph. She is particularly remembered for her involvement in the "Schweddy Balls" sketch with Shannon and Alec Baldwin, as well as the recurring Culps skits with Ferrell.

During her chat with Yang and Rogers, Gasteyer recounted a humorous incident from 1998 when Combs, the musical guest at the time, requested a highly confidential rehearsal for his performance. According to Gasteyer, Combs "shut down the whole building" and demanded a "totally closed set" for his Thursday run-through, a request that was unusual and caught the attention of the show's writers.

The writers suggested it would be funny if Ferrell, dressed as a recently fired crew member named Rob, disrupted Combs' rehearsal. Seizing the opportunity, Ferrell made his way onto the stage while Combs was performing "Come With Me" featuring Jimmy Page, a song that samples Led Zeppelin’s "Kashmir."

Gasteyer described how Ferrell confidently walked down the stairs and onto the set, wandering around looking disoriented while Combs rapped. "I have the video from the control room where Sean Combs is rapping, and behind him, Ron’s like walking around looking really disoriented," she recalled.

The reaction from Combs was one of discomfort and the incident highlighted the comedic contrast between Combs' serious rehearsal and Ferrell's humorous interruption. "It is the greatest thing that's ever happened because what a deserved person to have their 'Kashmir' moment interrupted by Ron," Gasteyer humorously remarked, adding that the incident showcased the absurdity of show business rituals.

Gasteyer’s anecdote provides a glimpse into the irreverent and unpredictable nature of the "SNL" environment during her tenure, capturing a moment where comedy and the realities of performing intersected in an unforgettable way.
