Comedian Amy Schumer has disclosed that she has been diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome, a hormonal disorder, which she attributes to taking steroid medication. Schumer, 42 years old, made public her condition after previously addressing criticism and rumors about her "puffier" face during recent appearances on The Tonight Show and The View. The diagnosis shed light on Schumer's health battle, with symptoms such as facial swelling, often referred to as "moon face," being a common side effect. Schumer, who shares a son named Gene, 4, with husband Chris Fischer, emphasized the relief of receiving news that her condition is a type of Cushing syndrome that will naturally resolve itself. The comedian expressed gratitude for the online scrutiny prompting her to seek medical attention, highlighting the challenges she faced both with her health and public perception in recent weeks. Schumer has been open about her struggle with endometriosis, an autoimmune disease, and underwent a hysterectomy in 2021 as part of her treatment.
