In a tragic turn of events, Seth Binzer, the 49-year-old American singer known as Shifty Shellshock from the rap-rock band Crazy Town, passed away due to an accidental drug overdose. The news was confirmed by Crazy Town's manager Howie Hubberman who expressed deep remorse for their inability to save the talented musician.

According to Hubberman, Shifty Shellshock ingested a deadly combination of pharmaceutical and street drugs, unintentionally leading to his demise. However, the official cause and manner of his death have not yet been disclosed by the medical examiner in Los Angeles where Binzer lived.

"We failed Shifty - the people, like myself, who enabled him to do stuff," Hubberman shared in a brief interview. "If we had been successful, he would still be here."

Seth Binzer had been candid about his battle with substance abuse addiction in a documentary filmed by actress and director Soleil Moon Frye, whom he was romantically linked with from around 2021. The documentary, focused on his daily life and struggles with addiction, was yet to be released at the time of Binzer's untimely passing. Hubberman expressed the importance of sharing the film's message now more than ever.

One of Crazy Town's biggest hits, the song "Butterfly," reached No. 1 on the US charts in 2001, with a peak position at No. 3 in the UK. Binzer believed the track's radio-friendliness and appeal to the female audience would make it a hit. Unfortunately, the band faced challenges when their second album, "Darkhorse," did not replicate the success of their debut effort, leading to a four-year hiatus.

Binzer also had a solo career, providing vocals for Paul Oakenfold's single, "Starry Eyed Surprise," which charted at No. 6 in the UK and came close to the US top 40 in 2002. Crazy Town later regrouped, albeit with name changes, including "Crazy Town X."

Apart from music, Binzer also gained recognition through his appearances on VH1 reality shows, including "Celebrity Rehab" and its spinoff "Sober House," where he unfortunately experienced a relapse.

The late singer had faced legal troubles as well, including an arrest in 2022 for allegedly driving under the influence.

Hubberman described Binzer as a friend who had fought relentlessly to overcome his addiction issues. He leaves behind three children, and his manager expressed deep sadness over their failure to provide him with the help he desperately needed.

Seth Binzer's unfortunate passing serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of addiction and the urgent need for support and intervention for those struggling with substance abuse. The music industry mourns the loss of a talented artist whose music resonated with audiences around the world.
