An Air Canada flight bound for Paris experienced a terrifying incident just moments after takeoff, as captured in a disturbing video. The aircraft, a Boeing 777, had departed from Toronto Pearson International Airport and was scheduled to land at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on June 5.

Shortly after taking off, the flight was forced to turn back due to an alarming engine issue. The video recording shows the moment the aircraft caught fire mid-air, prompting a startled onlooker to exclaim, "Holy crap!".

Air Canada confirmed that Flight AC872 was carrying a total of 389 passengers and 13 crew members. Thankfully, the plane was able to safely return to Toronto, with emergency vehicles present as a precautionary measure.

Upon investigation, it was determined that the engine problem was caused by a compressor stall. This occurs when the aerodynamics of a turbine engine are affected, disrupting the airflow and causing the fuel to ignite, resulting in visible flames.

The airline promptly addressed the incident via social media, stating that the aircraft landed normally and was met by emergency vehicles. Passengers were later accommodated on another aircraft to continue their journey to Paris the same evening.

Air Canada reiterated the professionalism of their highly qualified pilots, who are trained to handle such incidents in accordance with established standard procedures. The airline assured the public that the situation was quickly stabilized and the plane landed safely.

In light of the incident, the Boeing 777 will undergo further evaluation by Air Canada's maintenance and engineering professionals to determine the extent of the damage. No comment has been provided by Pearson Airport at this time.

Safety remains a top priority for Air Canada, and they are committed to ensuring the well-being and comfort of their passengers as they continue to investigate the engine issue that led to this frightening incident.
