John Aprea, the talented actor beloved for his roles in iconic films like The Godfather Part II and television shows like Full House, has died at the age of 83. He passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5 at his residence in Los Angeles, surrounded by his loving family. The sad news was confirmed by his manager, Will Levine, who stated that Aprea died of natural causes.

Born on March 4, 1941, in Englewood, New Jersey, Aprea made his notable onscreen debut in 1968's Bullitt, appearing alongside the legendary Steve McQueen. However, it was his unforgettable portrayal of Young Tessio in The Godfather Part II (1974) that truly left a lasting impression. Interestingly, Aprea had auditioned for the role of Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's original 1972 film but ultimately found his place as a part of the Corleone family in the sequel.

Reflecting on his career, Aprea once shared that his time spent working with Coppola, as well as acclaimed actors Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, during the filming of The Godfather Part II was undoubtedly the highlight of his professional life. He fondly remarked, "I was surrounded by the best in The Godfather, and it was a true privilege to be part of such an esteemed production."

Aside from his film work, Aprea also left an indelible mark on the small screen. He had a recurring role in the beloved sitcom Full House, where he portrayed Nick Katsopolis, the father of character Jesse, played by John Stamos. Aprea continued his role in the spin-off series, Fuller House. His television credits are extensive, as he made appearances on popular shows such as The Gangster Chronicles, Matt Houston, and Knots Landing. Additionally, he appeared in episodes of various acclaimed series like Wonder Woman, Three's a Crowd, The A-Team, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Fall Guy, Falcon Crest, Tales from the Dark Side, Night Court, Melrose Place, Saved by the Bell: The New Class, and The Sopranos.

John Aprea's remarkable career spanned across both film and television, and his contributions to the entertainment industry will always be cherished.
