### ABC Expands Monday Night Football Simulcasts with ESPN

In response to last year’s success and ongoing Hollywood work stoppages, ABC will continue to air Monday Night Football games, stepping up their game with additional simulcasts this year. The network's decision is driven by the high performance of pro football compared to traditional Hollywood content.

According to the Associated Press, ABC and ESPN plan to broadcast six additional Monday Night Football games. The added games will feature the Ravens at Buccaneers on October 21, Buccaneers at Chiefs on November 4, Texans at Cowboys on November 18, Ravens at Chargers on November 25, and Saints at Packers on December 23. Consequently, ABC will cover a Monday night game every week for the remainder of the regular season, except for the matches on November 11 (Dolphins at Rams) and December 2 (Browns at Broncos).

This strategic move centers around boosting ratings, benefiting both Disney, which owns ABC and ESPN, and the NFL by attracting a broader audience. However, this expansion creates stiffer competition for other NFL broadcast partners like NBC, CBS, and Fox, which may face challenges on Monday nights.

By increasing the number of simulcasts, ABC and ESPN strengthen their position in sports broadcasting, leveraging the immense popularity of the NFL to dominate Monday night television.
