**NFL Flexes Jets-Colts Super Bowl Rematch Out of Prime-Time Slot**
The NFL has decided to flex the Week 11 Super Bowl III rematch between the Colts and Jets out of the prime-time slot. Instead, the Bengals and Chargers will take center stage. This switch seems to be driven more by growing fatigue with the Jets and their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers than the records of the involved teams – the Bengals at 4-5 and the Chargers at 5-4.
The initial NFL schedule had granted the Jets six prime-time appearances within the first 11 weeks, a move schedule-maker Mike North humorously noted as the Jets "kind of owing us one." However, recent developments suggest that the league is now seeking a refund on that investment.
Adding to the decision was the Colts’ underwhelming performance during their previous prime-time game in Week 9 against the Vikings, which followed a similar late scheduling switch. The NFL’s move to bump the Jets from another high-profile slot indicates diminishing patience with the team's appeal this season.
Looking ahead, the Jets have no scheduled prime-time games for the rest of the 2024 season. While it's still possible they could be flexed into a prime-time position, the likelihood seems slim given the current sentiment. Some Jets fans might even prefer it that way, humorously urging the league to "Get the flex out."
