### Jenna Fischer Reflects on Her Battle with Breast Cancer

In a candid conversation with Hoda Kotb on "Today," Jenna Fischer of "The Office" fame shared intimate details of her breast cancer journey. Revealing for the first time her emotional experiences, Fischer mentioned reaching out to fellow actress Christina Applegate soon after her diagnosis.

"When I called [Christina Applegate], she picked up and immediately asked, 'Which one is it?' I told her it was breast cancer and she replied, 'I effing knew it,'" Fischer recounted. Apparent from Fischer's narrative, Applegate’s reaction showcased both her intuition and her straightforward nature—traits appreciated by Fischer since Applegate's own breast cancer diagnosis in 2008.

Initially, Fischer had delayed her routine mammogram but decided to get checked just in time. "Three weeks later, they said my mammogram was fine. Still, there were several spots that were hard to see because of my dense tissue. They recommended another mammogram and possibly a breast ultrasound," she explained. Despite these suggestions, Fischer mentioned she didn't feel any particular anxiety about the follow-up procedures.

The real shock came when she was alone and read her biopsy results through her patient portal. "I checked the portal while out on a hike. That’s when I saw terms like 'invasive,' 'ductal,' 'carcinoma,' 'malignant.' I thought, 'These words certainly sound like cancer,'" Fischer recalled with stark clarity.

Throughout her treatment, which included chemotherapy, Fischer leaned heavily on her support circle. She emphasized that Applegate's candid and sometimes "salty" language provided a unique form of comfort. "She’s salty. Salty language, that one. I love her for it," Fischer mentioned affectionately.

One crucial piece of advice Fischer adhered to was to continue living her life amidst the chaos of treatment. "I did that. And some days, I just walked circles in my own living room," she shared. "Other days, I walked all around the block. But every day, I ensured to get up and do those things. I believe it made a significant difference."

Fischer's unwavering spirit and openness about her breast cancer journey serve as an inspiration and a beacon of hope for many dealing with similar battles.
