The Washington Huskies have strengthened their depleted secondary with the acquisition of transfer cornerback Jordan Shaw, who recently committed to the team. Shaw, who had transferred from Indiana to Arizona earlier in the offseason, has now decided to follow the new coaching staff to Washington, bringing with him four years of eligibility.

Standing at 6'0 and weighing 170 lbs, Shaw was regarded as the 54th best player in the state of California according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings during his time at Downey High School in Downey, CA. Known as an all-purpose athlete, Shaw displayed his versatility by recording 11 interceptions and 29 touchdowns across offense, special teams, and defense during his junior and senior seasons.

Initially committing to Colorado, Shaw changed his decision after Deion Sanders was hired as the head coach and instead committed to Indiana, where he emerged as one of the highly touted players in their 2023 recruiting class.

Despite not being in the starting lineup for most of the season, Shaw was eventually given the opportunity to contribute late in the year when Indiana's starting nickel corner sustained a season-ending injury. In his first appearance against Penn State, Shaw displayed his talent by registering two quarterback hits in just two blitz attempts. He followed this up with an impressive performance against Wisconsin, leading the team with 10 tackles and a pass break-up.

Throughout the season, Shaw made 13 tackles without any misses, showcasing his ability to make accurate tackles, a skill that has often been lacking in Washington's cornerbacks in recent years. However, he did give up eight catches for 117 yards and a touchdown in 77 coverage snaps. It is important to note that Shaw was a true freshman who was thrust into action midway through the season. Fortunately for Washington, Shaw's four-game appearance ensured that he maintained his redshirt season.

The addition of Shaw has resulted in a highly competitive group of corners from the class of 2023 for the Huskies. Joining the team alongside Shaw are Caleb Presley, Curley Reed, and Leroy Bryant, all of whom have four years of eligibility remaining. Washington also boasts a talented group of upperclassmen corners, including Elijah Jackson, Thad Dixon, Davon Banks, Darren Barkins, and Dyson McCutcheon. The new coaching staff will also be looking to secure the services of Ephesians Prysock, who is currently in the transfer portal from Arizona and earned honorable mention all-conference recognition this year.

With the arrival of Jordan Shaw, the Washington Huskies' secondary is poised for a resurgence, adding depth and skill to the roster. Shaw's senior year highlights in high school showcase his exceptional abilities and provide a glimpse of the potential he brings to the team.
