In a sudden turn of events, Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic was hospitalized on Tuesday night after experiencing a "serious health issue" at a restaurant in Salt Lake City, according to ESPN. The NBA has consequently postponed the Warriors-Jazz game, originally scheduled for Wednesday, to an unspecified date due to a "medical emergency in the Warriors family."

Milojevic had traveled with the team to Utah for the game, and it was during a meal with coaches and players when the incident occurred, ESPN reports. The 46-year-old coach, who joined the Warriors' coaching staff in 2021, played a crucial role in the team's championship win in 2022 against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.

Known for his expertise in working with big men, Milojevic played a significant role in the development of Denver Nuggets' two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, whom he coached for 2 ½ years. Under Milojevic's guidance, Jokic's passing ability reached elite levels, cementing his reputation as one of the best players in the sport.

Prior to his coaching career, Milojevic enjoyed a successful playing career overseas, playing in Serbia, Spain, Montenegro, and Turkey over a span of 14 years. He received the prestigious Adriatic League Most Valuable Player award three times from 2004 to 2006, earning him the nickname "The Serbian Barkley," drawing comparisons to NBA legend Charles Barkley.

Before joining Steve Kerr's coaching staff, Milojevic served as the head coach of KK Buducnost in the Adriatic League in Montenegro. Additionally, he was the head coach of KK Mega Basket in Serbia from 2012 to 2020 and was named an assistant coach for the Serbian National team in 2019.

As for the Warriors, they currently hold a record of 18-22 and are 1 ½ games behind the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets for the final Play-In Tournament spot. With Wednesday's game postponed, the Warriors' next matchup will now take place next Wednesday as they face the Atlanta Hawks at home.

The team took to Twitter to announce that an update on Milojevic's condition will be provided as appropriate. The entire basketball community stands united in sending well wishes for a speedy recovery to Milojevic and his family during this challenging time.
